# Referral Program

## How does the Referral Program work?

You share a personal referral link. When someone opens it, a 30-day attribution window starts. If they purchase their first ticket in any lottery type within that window, the referral is permanently bound on-chain for the network where the purchase occurs. From then on, smart contracts handle reward calculation, availability, and claims automatically - no manual administration, approval, review, or waiting period is involved. Once bound, the relationship cannot be changed or reassigned; this permanent binding is what "lifetime" referral means.

See [Referral Program](/referral/referral-program) for reward types, claims, attribution, and binding.

## What rewards do I earn as a Referrer?

1. **Revenue Share** - 50% of the Protocol Fee from every ticket purchase by your referred users in Protocol Lotteries and User-Created Lotteries (not Super Lotteries); claimable immediately.
2. **Welcome Bonus** - 10 CLT, one-time per referred user, on their first Protocol Lottery ticket purchase.
3. **CLT Referral Bonus** - 5% of that lottery's CLT Reward per Ticket for every Protocol Lottery ticket a referred user buys; claimable immediately.

Once a referral is bound, smart contracts calculate rewards under the protocol's rules. Claims remain manual and do not expire. Super Lottery participation does not generate referral rewards.

## When do I receive my 50% Revenue Share?

It becomes claimable immediately after each qualifying ticket purchase by a referred user - there is no pending period, approval step, or payout schedule. You claim from the Referral Dashboard whenever you choose; claiming is an on-chain transaction with a network gas fee. Unclaimed referral rewards do not expire.

## Is there a minimum payout threshold?

No protocol-imposed minimum exists. Claims are manual and token-specific - you choose which reward token to claim and when. Since each claim costs gas, it is practical to claim once the accumulated amount comfortably exceeds the gas fee.

## How does the on-chain "hard-bind" work?

Before any purchase, referral attribution is stored in the referred user's browser. At the moment of their first ticket purchase within the attribution window, the referral is written to the blockchain for that specific network - this is the hard-bind. After that, the relationship is permanent, independent of cookies, devices, or browsers, and cannot be changed or reassigned by anyone.

## What is the attribution window, and what does last-touch mean?

Opening a referral link starts a 30-day attribution window. CoinLotto uses last-touch attribution: if a user opens more than one referral link during this period, the most recently opened link receives attribution when the binding purchase happens.

## What if my referral clears their cookies before buying?

Two phases matter. Before the first purchase, attribution lives in the user's browser - if they clear browser data before buying, the attribution is lost until they open a referral link again (restarting the 30-day window, last-touch applies). After the first purchase, the binding is on-chain and permanent - clearing cookies, switching devices, or reinstalling the browser has no effect.

## How do gift purchases affect referrals?

Referral attribution follows the wallet that purchases the ticket, not the wallet that receives it. If a gift purchase creates a Referral Binding, it is created for the purchaser. Any referral rewards generated by the purchase are credited under the purchaser's Referral Binding. Receiving a gifted ticket does not create or change the recipient's Referral Binding.

The recipient still owns the ticket, participates in the draw, and receives its ticket-based prizes and rewards. See [Buying Tickets](/lottery-mechanics/buying-tickets) for the complete gift flow.

## How does multi-chain, per-network binding work?

Referral binding is performed independently on each supported network (BNB Chain, Base, Polygon, Ethereum). A referred user is bound on the network where their first qualifying purchase occurs; activity on another network requires binding on that network (their first purchase there, within an attribution window). Balances and earned referral rewards are also tracked independently per network.

## Can I earn from referrals playing User-Created Lotteries?

Yes - the 50% Revenue Share applies to Protocol Fees generated by referred users' ticket purchases in User-Created Lotteries as well as Protocol Lotteries. CLT-based rewards (Welcome Bonus and CLT Referral Bonus) come from Protocol Lottery activity only, and Super Lottery play generates no referral rewards.
